I.T. Strategic Planning

On this page is an outline on the topic of I.T. Strategic Planning, this may serve as a template for you to pull together a rough draft of your own plan. I hope you find it useful, if you have questions feel free to leave them in the comments or e-mail me at: owen@owengreaves.com

First let me list the possible sections that may be in your plan:

I.T. Strategic Plan Framework

1.) Vision / Mission – Your Purpose

2.) Services – That you already provide

3.) Key Result Area’s (K.R.A.)

4.) Objectives – Make sure you put dates for delivery on each one

5.) Action Plans – This list could be extensive, put dates for each Action Item here too

6.) Analysis – This has sub-sections as follows

a) Markets

b) Key Success Factors

c) Core Competencies

d) S.W.O.T. (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities & Threats)

e) Relationships (Interrelationships)

f) Budget Alignment

g) Planning Observations

You could make each sub-section a section on its own, its up to you. If you have other recommendations for consideration, please let me know.

I have gone through and selected all posts here on Owen Greaves Consulting, on how to start / develop your own I.T. Strategic Plan. These posts are not highly detailed, they can serve as a high level approach to building your framework for your plan. For now I will provide links to the post based on the above Outline.

These links are not critical but will help you understand some traditional ways of calculating traditional business ROI & your Breakeven Point:

Traditional ROI Equation

Traditional Break Even Equation
