Open & Free Business Model Workshop – May 21st, 2010

COME EXPLORE YOUR BUSINESSES FUTURE On The WEB!

We will look at three main topics:

TRENDS

We’ll look at trends and what’s happening around the world, and how these trends will impact your business online & off. Today there are 1.7 Billion people on the Internet, in the next 3 – 5 years that number will be 5 Billion. How will you get their attention?

THE OPEN & FREE BUSINESS MODEL

This is not a skill set, it’s a paradigm shift and this shift is painful, I’ll layout why and what this model might look like for your business, I’ll also show examples of how businesses are using this model.

BREAKOUT SESSION

By the time we get to this section, you’ll already have some new creative ideas, and ways to increase revenue. We’ll work through how you can build & implement your ideas with your staff.

When the workshop is over you will have a much better view of what’s coming, a framework to help you adapt, plus you will have a simple step by step approach for implementing new revenue streams.

Walk for Kids Help Phone – Thank You Eileen Fisher

Eileen Fisher

I want to take a moment to thank Eileen Fisher of Enterprising Moms Network Inc. for making the Fraser Valley Walk for Kids Help Phone fund raiser event a huge success, and for asking me to be a part of it. You will see and hear much more on the event as more photo’s and stories surface. Eileen worked hard to coordinate this event and it was an amazing success in my humble opinion, $5,575.00 was raised through her efforts and the many who attended. If you missed the event and would like to get involved next year or donate funds, contact Eileen Fisher at 604 – 755 – 2993

The weather didn’t stop the many who braved the blustery winds and the rain stopped long enough to get the walk in. The sponsor’s deserve recognition as well, proviing exposure and great support, not too mention WestJet providing a trip for two anywhere Westjet fly’s.

I'll be Speaking to The Enterprising Moms Network March 15th

One of the things I love to do more than anything else, is hearing about successful people. Better than that, when these successful people come together and build network that supports them in their efforts. In my area there is such a group known as, Fraser Valley Enterprising Moms Network, if you don’t know anything about them, please visit their website. So why am I promoting this group? Two reasons, firstly, they are doing some cool things, with 10 Chapters now up and running, they hold monthly events with guest speakers. Secondly, they invited me to speak!

From the Enterprising Moms Network Site:

EMN offers you a place to come to remind you that you aren’t alone and that it is possible to be a good mom and a good business woman as well.

We combines topics that are relevant to YOU – from business topics such as marketing, budgeting, loan assistance to health concerns, raising children, and relationships.

In addition, we invite dynamic speakers who are leading experts and successful mom entrepreneurs to share their experiences and knowledge with you.

EMN has it all – including invaluable networking opportunities, extensive resources and an online forum for you to access throughout the month.

Join us online or at a chapter meeting in your area today and see why EMN is the place to be for all mom entrepreneurs!

A Message To Business Owners

Most business owners implement systems that solve problems, sometimes they do it without looking into who they ask to help solve this problem or problems. It happens because there is a precieved urgency, something that just can’t wait and must be solved immediately. So let me ask you, is that any different than impulse shopping? Yes & No.

I’ve learned over my 50+ years that most things can be solved by slowing down and thinking through the challenges rather than making a knee jerk reaction to something that is most likely not that urgent. Sometimes the problem or need isn’t urgent at all, it’s just a need and you fill it without making sure that the person or thing is actually qualified to fill that need. Worse yet, how far in the future are you looking when you do hire someone to fill a role or fulfill a need?

Most business owners don’t look past their own sphere of influence when hiring or solving a problem, I’m generalizing of course but you know business owners that do just that everyday. A problem I see and have yet to figure out a solution is, how to grab the business owner before they make these kinds of decisions. If you have influence, credibility and you know how to help them, then you have a chance. The bigger problem, how do they find out about you? That’s another topic of discussion.

So business owners, please take the time to look more closely, so you actually solve the precieved urgency and or hire the right people. Hasty decisions cost you, how you make decisions in your business speaks volumes to the outside world and your accountant.

What do you think?

Merry Christmas & Happy New Year from Owen Greaves Consulting.
